As much fun as riding can be, dealing with traffic can take a lot of that fun
away. It can be downright dangerous for kids, and even adults, to ride in some places.
Luckily, in the last few decades, there has been a surge in bike trail construction
– giving families miles and miles of car-free riding room.
Trail riding and riding on bike paths lets people get back to what makes riding
fun: going at your own pace, seeing things from a new perspective and leaving your
worries (or parents) behind. Plus, rail trails (bike trails built from abandoned
or retired railroad passages) have the added benefit of being relatively flat –
because trains can’t go up the kinds of hills that cars can.

and information about bike trails in your area.
